By now I'm sure its clear that I have a weakness for milk glass. Over the weekend, I saw the bowl on the left in a thrift store and brought it home. I've had its smaller cousin on the right for a while.
I also picked up the candlesticks below in the same shop I mentioned Sunday. I've seen these before in several stores and always pass them up but I decided to just go for it and I'm glad I did. I like the way they look against the dark wood of the table.
I'm glad I'm not the only one with an obsession with glassware!! I love milk glass, but I typically go for the Depression glass. I have quite the collection from my Grandmothers, but I am still trying to figure out how to display it all.
ReplyDeleteI love milk glass! You have so many pieces; lucky you!!! I try to stick with hobnail myself. I don't care for the ones with the grape leaves pattern very much. I saw a bowl very like yours this past weekend with the open lace edge. I like that pattern very much too!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I've found your blog, I like your taste.
ReplyDeleteYou have some really lovely pieces of milk glass.
'Collecting' is a disease, I know I have it too! There is no cure.
Love your impressive milk glass collection and your new pieces. I spotted some larger pieces in your cabinet that I have not come across before. I have 10 pieces so far, and hope to find more. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI have that compote and candlesticks too! Good finds!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh...I LOVE milkglass! My husband hates it though...so my collection is small.... : (
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of my grandma.
We have an awesome thrift store near my house that usually has TONS of beautiful milk glass all for less than $1. It's amazing....
LOVE the secretary too! Beautiful!
Your milk glass collection is just gorgeous. You do have some really beautiful pieces. Your new treasures are wonderful. Doesn't it make you happy when you find a treasure. I also of course fell in love with the cloche and the pretty vignette inside. Be sure to save this pic and any other creations you have for the Spring Cloche Party on Apr. 2nd. Love it. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I am really into milk glass right now. When I was little my grand-mother had an milk glass lamp that she would use to read to me. I wish I could find one.
ReplyDeleteNice collection of milk glass, Melanie. The white looks fabulous against the dark color of your secretary. Love the aqua candle with the white.
ReplyDeleteDo yoy really think it's an illness?
ReplyDeleteMy husband seems to think so!!!
Too bad!

Holy crow, you do have a lot of milk glass. Fortunately it looks fantastic in your cabinet and on display in your dining room. I've collected a few pieces since I started reading your blog about a year ago - I guess the illness is catchy.
ReplyDeleteI just got to say that you have beautiful milkglass collection in the cabinet! Love how you display them in there.. drools!
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous...your collection is what I dream of having one day (and hopefully soon)!
ReplyDeleteGreat finds!
My grandmother had an extensive collection of milk glass and I have some of her pieces. I wish I had more but I actually do have those exact candlesticks! I've seen them in a couple antique stores and they are quite pricey.
ReplyDeleteI really like the look of milk glass but must say, I don't own a single piece! I am going to have to search a little harder at the thrift store.
