Master Bedroom

Mr. T and I aren't lucky enough to have family around to help with childcare, so we recently decided to each have a "day off" each month. Sunday was my day off so I chose to go to Ikea. I haven't been there in years. I was AMAZED at all they had (even crystal chandeliers now!). One thing I came across was a beautiful display of a bed with a canopy around it. On the canopy was the most gorgeous lace curtains. I know a lot of people probably think lace is old-fashioned, but I have come to appreciate it in moderation. I wasn't sure how they would look in my bedroom, but I couldn't resist. Plus, I have never loved the sailcloth curtains we have.

When I got home and hung them, I was so glad I had gotten them. I don't think the pictures do them justice.

I know they're long, but I need to reposition the rod anyway. I'm not sure if its okay for lace to pool like some other curtains do. I suppose I could always hem them a bit if necessary.

I especially love the scalloped edge and the way the light filters through them.

Somehow, they seem to highlight the textures of my euro-pillow shams ...

... and the Venetian glass mirror over the bed. I actually saw a square Venetian mirror at Ikea as well. Anyway, my plain curtains did nothing to highlight these other things.

I don't think I've ever posted a full picture of my bedroom since I painted it white so here it is.

Another view. (Please ignore the primed but not painted closet doors. Its on the to-do list!)

  2. I love lace too. I don't think it's old fashioned at all. I love the white room with all white accessories. It is just gorgeous. I think the drapes will be perfect when the rods are raised. Love them. Hugs, Marty
