Shed Project Under Way

So, my irises are blooming today.  They were a lot more impressive in past years but I haven't had the time to dig them up and divide them.

I've moved ahead with my shed project and picked some colors ...
I tested them and I'm sold on the first two colors - the main tan color and the green trim color.  It probably doesn't look too impressive right now but I really see how the two colors will blend into the natural surroundings rather than jump out at you like the current barn red does.  The red will probably be the perfect pop of color for the door and windows but I'm going wait until the rest is done before deciding how I feel about it because I'm not sure at this point.  I'm hoping to clean the wood this week and start painting this weekend.  The addition of the windows will probably be down the line because I'm going need to rebuild some beams to install them and will need some help with that.

I don't usually share this much about myself but I've been pretty MIA on the blog front lately for a long list of reasons including kids that don't nap anymore leaving me less time for projects, kids that don't sleep at night (meaning I'm typically exhausted during the day), learning to belly dance and preparing for a performance in June, spending a lot of time gardening and realize that most people find the subject a little boring and last but not least, there are the usual family commitments including celebrating the 4th birthday of my oldest daughter.  So, I'm still here and will still blog but for the reasons above, I don't expect to blog like I used to anytime soon.  However, I thought I'd share what I'll be doing next.

  1. I think those colours will look great on your shed. I can't quite picture the door in red, but maybe that is just a lack of imagination. I sort of thought black, but I"m not sure.

It's funny how different phases of life are tiring in different ways - you are at a very demanding stage, I well remember it, so I totally understand why you will be blogging less often. I look forward to the posts when they do come. Personally I like garden posts too.

  4. Thank you so much for letting us know why there was a break from posts. I love your site and will look forward to new posts when they come. My 8 month old recently decided that 2am in playtime, so I'm right there with you! Thankfully my 2 year old still loves her sleep!
