Last year, I was pretty excited to pick up a white Christmas tree the day after Christmas. I had originally planned to decorate it blue and white, but I changed my mind and went with silver and white instead. I really love how it turned out.
I haven't had an artificial tree in years and even remember my parents having fresh trees the last few years I lived at home. This was easy to put up and I actually think the lights (which I purchased separately) and ornaments look far better on the stiffer faux branches.
On that fateful day that I found my tree, my mom started to wonder if maybe she should get a white tree. She always copies! Since we were at her house for Thanksgiving, I decorated her tree as well. She decided on blue and white.
I love the etheral quality of my tree, but my parents' tree is beautiful as well.
Now if only I were done shopping!
Have you put up your tree yet? What are your plans and traditions for your tree?

Your trees are beautiful. At least you will feel right at home looking at your parent's tree since it looks so much like your own. The white is a lovely backdrop for the silver and the blue. It will be fun to change it up every year.
ReplyDeleteBoth are gorgeous! We always had real trees for the longest time when i was growing up, then we moved onto fake trees once my mom got sick of watering the real ones. We got a white tree and did it in red and white, she was big into apples that year so she had small-ish red shiny apples and red lights and some other red things, i wish i had a picture of it, it was very pretty with the white tree.. we only had it for a few years though because the tree was dirty and didnt have that bright white color anymore.
ReplyDeleteI put up my tree, but I need to go buy a tree topper we were looking at at walmart and put the ornaments on.. ive just been lazy.. but it has its lights on and the tree skirt and nativity set underneath!
and I just thought about doing a white tree safari style.. either leopard or zebra, i think that would be cute! However I still have a perfectly good tree that i bought last year and a tree that i bought this year, i dont think hubby would agree with me buying another tree.. maybe in the future ill have to keep that idea in mind and buy animal print and black/brown ornaments after christmas when they're on sale!
ReplyDeleteBoth trees are Beautiful!! I am heading home (from TN for Thanksgiving) next week and putting up my tree right away. My colors are Turquoise, Silver and White. Can't wait!! Have a blessed evening!
ReplyDeleteBoth trees are gorgeous...but I love your Mom's blue and white one. I'm busy baking cookies this weekend and haven't even started on decorating inside. We did put our lights outside last weekend before the colder weather came. I love to decorate and want to start so badly. Maybe next year I will do the cookies earlier so I can start the decorating Thanksgiving weekend.
ReplyDeleteI am a lover of white Christmas trees and yours are wonderful and gorgeous. I think I could take one of each and be happy, happy, happy!!!!
ReplyDeleteBoth trees are gorgeous..I've never had a white tree! We've been alternating between a real tree & an artifical one for many years now but this year I finally changed the colors I've been using...We put up our artifical tree today & its went from burgundy & gold to red & chartruese!
ReplyDeleteI love how both trees turned out. We are putting up our tree tomorrow, I can't wait.
ReplyDeleteI love white trees.
ReplyDeleteOurs is white with soft pink, silver, white and pearalized ornies! Sometimes I use all pink lights, other times all white lights!
I love the elegance and romance of a white tree!
No I haven't put our tree up yet because I am trying to talk hubby into a pre-lit tree so I don't have to mess with the lights.
HOPE he gives in!
Smiles, Dolly
We bought a prelit tree yesterday, what a relief not to have to deal with putting the lights on! I did mine all in silver too only my tree is green:) I did buy a white velvet skirt for underneath from Lowes though. It turned out really pretty!
ReplyDeleteLove your mom's and your trees so very pretty!

Pretty trees. Love them both. Now I'm thinking I need to get at least a small white one.
ReplyDeleteIt is really beautiful! Winter wonderland kind of thing. :) Love it!

Amazing! I love both trees. So pristine and gorgeous in their simplicity. This year I've been so desperately wanting a white tree. Putting a 10 foot one in my main living room would be so grand. Ughhh... I must leave your blog now... I fear green is not my color and I'm just pea green with envy. lol
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Shanna
I have a white tree too! Only it's not quite as beautiful! We have non-breakable, soft toy ornaments on the bottom...that are year old friendly and then lots of Department 56. SUPER colorful...but I've always loved the simple color themed trees :o)
ReplyDeleteI love both the trees but the white tree rocks!
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous! I want a giant pink tree, but my husband isn't too crazy about the idea;)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! ..times two! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh wow... your white tree is stunning! I've been looking for one, as well - I love the simplistic beauty of it. Thank you for sharing and happy holidays!

Those white trees are so popular-anything just stands out and looks beautiful on them!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love white trees! Both you and your moms look gorgeous! Stop by when you get a chance and check out my white tree!

Hi Melanie! I just found your blog and I love it! Your tree is gorgeous! Check out my white tree, because if my cabinet was in the picture, it would almost be identical to your tree picture. We have the same cabinet, wall color, and floor! I had to do a double take!
