Resolutions 2011

I know a lot of people make and break resolutions.  Not me!  I love resolutions and the past few years have done really well with them.  It wasn't home related but my only resolution last year was to get off the couch and try something new.  One year later, I dance 3 days a week, started running, eating better and I'm probably the healthiest I've ever been in my life.  Not home-related, but that was big for me in 2010.

On to 2011.

I have a longer list of resolutions this year but I'll stick with those that are home-related.

  • The shed project continues.  We finished the exterior in 2010.  Interior is on the list for 2011.  I don't plan to buy paint.  Since I already have enough paint to fill a paint store, I'm going to use the random gallons I already have.

  • Since its become a yearly task, I'll be doing something with my kitchen table again.  I like the chairs, but the table-top is chipped and shabby but not in a good way so I'm going to do the entire set.  Not sure on colors yet.

  • I have lots of paper constantly coming into the house especially kids projects and pictures.  Time to organize!
  • I also have a bunch of aluminum blinds that came with our house when we bought it.  I hate them and plan to replace those this year.
  • MAJOR PROJECT:  Our house needs new siding.  Every spring carpenter bees have a field day with the wood siding and its not in the best shape.  We had it painted a few years ago as a temporary fix  but its time is expiring.  We also need a new roof, but the siding will likely be first.

That's it for the list.  I think that's plenty.

Happy New Year!

  1. I really love your shed project last year and i adored it so much that i had mine built too last year. Your really inspired me a lot.
Oh your kitchen table and chairs are still looking good, i like the colour, so cute. Can't wait to see what colour you gonna put on them later. The colours you choosed are always sweet.
    Love your post always :))

  2. Love that you have resolutions that are totally trackable and are able to actually complete them.."get healthy" is such a vague resolution, and it's a lot harder to actually track progress. Hope you are able to meet all of your 2011 goals!

  3. Hi Melanie! Happy 2011! Your shed is really cute! I have a kitchen table and chandelier just like yours. Last summer I painted my table and kitchen cabinet doors black. I love it! It gives my kitchen a French, rustic feel.

  4. Love that shed--on my wish list for a while. Congrats on all your personal health goals. Happy new year!

  5. Like you, I've a long list to complete.Your shed is the cutest and I know your table will look great also..xx
