Bedroom Lamps

Remember these lamps from my recently painted white bedroom?

I loved the lamp - the shape, the color, the size. I liked the shade too, but the print on it, although nice, wasn't what I was looking for. I really wanted a white or subtle off-white shade but the two pieces came together so it wasn't an option. I bought the lamp anyway.

After seeing a couple of blogs talk about painting fabric last week, I thought of the shades. After a couple of a couple of coats of primer and a few coats of spray paint, here they are now.

They're a little shiny so I have to do one more coat in a matte sheen with a creamier color, but I like them much more now that they blend in. Now when I considered doing this, I wondered if the pattern was going to show when I turned the light on. Did I care? I decided that I would be happier with the pattern coming through rather than the boldness of the shade as it was. Out came the paint and I went for it.

When I turned the light on, here is how it looked. You CAN see the print but I kinda like it!

Just a hint of a shadow. Its a little surprise since its not at all visible with the light off.

Mr. T thinks the effect is pretty neat too. ;-)

  2. Goodmorning, Melanie!
After I saw your posting about the soap glass bottle, I went to the Goodwill store yesterday after work to find a glass bottle. :D well, instead of finding a nice glass bottle for my dish soap, I found two very nice hobnail milk glass vases. THANK YOU, MELANIE!!! :D
