I've got the Blues ...

I painted my kitchen chairs blue.

... after being inspired by this picture from Lavender Fields.

It brings such great color into the room. I'm not used to it yet so every time I walk by, I think "Wow". I know most people (myself included) would normally chose neutral furniture, white, black, wood tones, etc. but this makes me smile. Here's how they looked before ...

Now, I really need to find a chandelier. I'm going to look around a little on my next trip to Delaware and if I don't find anything, I'm just going to buy new. I'm tired of the empty space above the table! I also wish I could find white chair pads. Why is white so impossible to find?? I may have to break down and buy the blah-brown that they seem to have everywhere.

Also, I don't often post recipes, but after our blueberry picking on Saturday, I found this highly rated recipe on Allrecipes for blueberry pancakes. You have to wait an hour before cooking them, but as the reviews say, its well worth it. They're so fluffy and light as air! I think next time I might add a bit more sugar, but they were delicious enough that I thought someone out there might be interested.

They tasted as good as they look. Yum!

  4. I like the change. It looks great. They have decent (and inexpensive) white chair pads at Ikea. Here's their page online http://www.ikea.com/us/en/search/?query=chair+pads

    Good luck!

  22. Your chairs look gorgeous! Aren't you glad you were brave enough to go with the blue, rather than the more 'natural' colors? It really does bring so much more color to the whole room.

Good luck finding a good chandelier! Have you thought of making your own pads? Or buying new and upholstering?

  25. Thank you for coming over to Martys guest posting of my kitchen and dining room and taking the time to leave a comment, I really appreciate your kind words. I am loving the change of the chairs, the blue you chose is so wonderfully cheery. How fun to make a simple change and it changed the look of the entire room. The cabinet you have behind the chairs would look great with some glass inserts and lighting , OOOH AAAAH! Hugs Kathysue

  34. You could go with another fun color like the green vase for your chair pads-- Or buy some chair pads and make a cover for them in white.
Another option would be to go with some large white pillows and sew on the ties to keep them in place.
