Vintage Fan

Over the weekend, I was in an antique shop admiring a vintage fan. It was somewhat large and I mentioned to my dad that I would love to have a small one. He said that he had one!

You see, my dad used to work for the Department of Sanitation in NYC. He retired over 10 years ago before I had any interest in such things, but he was always bringing home all kinds of stuff. A few weeks ago, I was looking at an old pedestal sink with original fixtures. He mentioned that he'd thrown away TONS of sinks just like it.

Back to the fan ... My dad has a habit of rigging up frightening wiring on things he finds. This fan was no exception. He had cut off the original plug and put on another plug with the wires completely exposed and was using it that way. I took it but he removed his "repair". I'm going to take it apart and see if I can properly replace the plug.

  4. I have a few of the fans and love the old look. Some of them do work, make sure Wild Girl and Happy Girl doesn't try to put their fingers near the blades if it is running. The blades are like knives when they are running. Have a nice week. Sandi
