Mantle in Progress

I'm still undecided about a few things (a certain awkward space in particular) and haven't had time to finish my mantle. In the meantime, I thought I'd share one detail. My dad gave me the little teapot years ago to keep on top of the insert. When the fire is burning, the water boils and adds some humidity to the dry air in winter. They sell things specifically for this purpose, but why not an old little teapot?

This is how it started out ...

I read somewhere that you can polish copper with a lemon and salt so I figured I'd give it a shot. I really like it so much better now.

We are going pumpkin picking in Delaware tomorrow and to the Rennaisance Festival on Sunday. I'll be dressing up for the first time in a few years. The corset was never a good fit with a pregnant belly. ;-) If I remember my camera, maybe I'll share a picture. I also don't have any belief that I am living in medieval times during the festival. I just think its fun to dress up. Its another thing I love about October. Its like a second Halloween.

Have a good weekend!

  1. I love it. Have you ever tried adding cloves to the water? It's a yummy winter scent.
