Bedroom Bargain!

I went to visit my parents in Delaware and when I walked into the guest room, I was surprised by what I saw.  First a few things about the room.  I picked out the curtains (Ikea) and pale blue color on the walls.  I loved the magnolia lamps at a local antique store so my mom went back and purchased them.  The mirror over the bed was a thrift store find that I painted.  The comforter is so old but its also so soft and warm for that reason.  I like the blue and white pattern on it and it actually reminds me of coral.

So, what surprised me?  The bed.  The last time I was here a few weeks ago, there was a black platform bed in the room that I was never a fan of.

I loved the new bed but wondered what small fortune my mom spent on it.  When mom got back from work, she gave me the shocking news ... $59!  On a whim, my dad asked her if they could go to one of our favorite thrft stores in the area, and there it was.  What a deal!

Life has been busy lately and its been ages since I've participated in a party, but I had to share this one so I'm participating in Today's Thrifty Treasure on Southern Hospitality.

  1. What a deal, indeed. Blue and white is my favourite of all colour combos, and the guest room is lovely.

  10. I have that bed! Mine is part of a "suite" - I have the chest of drawers, two nightstands, and an armoire. The armoire has the same pretty slats on the door. My walls are painted pale sage green, and on my bed, I have a sage green, cream, and lavender quilt set I got at Overstock. Shades of lavender, purples, and plums are in my accessories. I have a trio of hat boxes with those colors stacked on the armoire, and a lavender floral lampshade on the chest of drawers. I've always loved my furniture. (I think it's Broyhill, but I'm not sure.) It has a cottage-y look and is so light and airy. Your mother's guest room is very cozy and inviting. Oh, I have a white wicker basket with handles on the foot of my bed. There are a couple of books stacked in it, a small lavender-filled sachet pillow, and a fat round vase with a silk white hydrangea. I think a tray on your mother's bed would just finish the whole look! I was so thrilled to see "my" bed in another room, with different colors and accessories. It really is an attractive room.

  11. Hey, It's Joyce again! I just checked, and the white bedroom set is Broyhill. The collection is called Pleasant Isle. If you go to their website, you'll find it. I don't understand their pricing; the bed is priced at $819, and in another place, the headboard and footboard are priced seperately at $399 and $279. If she got it for $59, what a bargain!
