New project ... I've been meaning to refinish my dining room table for a while now.
(I just realized that two monkeys pulled down my sheers (again) and they aren't hanging right in the picture.)
I actually recovered the chairs a while ago.
Since I got the sideboard, the plan has been to eventually match the table and chairs with the sideboard - painted legs and stained top. All the chairs will be painted. I was thinking it would take forever, but I found an ivory spray paint that is a pretty close match so that should make things go a whole lot faster. I actually painted 3 of them yesterday and hope to paint the other 3 today.

As you can see, the finish on the sideboard is ... interesting. The distressing, stain or whatever the finish is highlights the wood grain. I can't duplicate that, but at least the color will be a better match. I'm going to attempt a gel stain over the painted chairs. I keep meaning to try this and intended to try it on the potting bench, but I keep deciding against it. After seeing the painted chairs next to the sideboard, it seems like it would look better with the stain, but I'm not sure how its going turn out. My last attempt with this was a colossal fail. Wish me luck. I love paint, but this project makes me a little nervous!
You certainly are busy! :) Good luck with the chairs - I'm eager to see how they turn out. They're going to look gorgeous in your dining room. I love the white sideboard and your shelves. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteHi Roeshel,
ReplyDeleteMy New Year's resolution was to complete unfinished projects in my house. The past couple of years I've been busy with babies so my home has taken a back burner. So far, I'm on track to finish a good portion, if not all of the things I hope to do!
Thanks for the compliment!
Good luck! I'm sure you'll do great, and I love your idea. Can't wait to see the finished product.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they will turn out great. Can't wait to see the finished product. Have a great day, T
ReplyDeleteLove the sideboard. It is so pretty. I can't wait to see the finished table and chairs. I havn't tried antiqueing either, but I keep thinking I want to. Good luck. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeletei saw winter white wood stain at the hardware store today... that sounds like what you may be looking for (perhaps with a glaze applied over it). I'm not an expert though... on second thought, it may be too late since you have painted the chairs. I'm sure they will work out beautifully painted and distressed.
ReplyDeleteI love all your remodel projects. You are much braver with paint than I. It takes me sooo long to find just the right color.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing a project in my dining room as well. Sideboard and table top will probably get painted white and I'll decide on a wall color after that is done. It's taken a year and a half to decide that. :)
