Botanical prints ...

So yesterday I posted about visiting Monticello a few years ago. While I was there, I picked up a set of 8 botanical cards. I had no intention of using them as cards. I brought them home and put a few of them in matted black frames in my kitchen.

When our kitchen was renovated, a pantry was placed where those pictures were so there was no longer space to hang them. I moved them all over the house but never really liked how they looked anywhere else. So, there were these empty spaces on either side of the armoir in my living room. I've been trying to figure out what to hang there for a while. I thought maybe my sepia pictures framed in white, but I felt like I needed some color. So, the other day, I got an idea ... I still have plenty of leftover paint from painting my dining room. What if I paint the frames of the botanical prints blue? I wasn't sure how it would look, but its only paint, right? So, I gathered up 6 pictures and went to work.

When I was done, I tried to hang 3 on each side of the armoir but it just wasn't right. Then I remembered I had 2 more! More painting. Here's the final product! Its a little hard to see, but it brings in the blue from the adjacent dining room.

I've been getting ready for the Wild One's birthday tomorrow. I was going to give you a peek into my partially decorated dining room but we're in the middle of having our bathrooms retiled so there's a mess in there now. I'll be too busy tomorrow to post, but maybe I'll have time Sunday. Of course, I'll be posting before/afters of the bathrooms once they're finished as well.

It supposed to be a gorgeous day tomorrow. Have a great weekend!
