My Stairs

These are the stairs leading up to our second floor.

Not long ago, I saw pictures of painted risers on a stairs and thought that might really brighten things up.

Hmmmm ... Yet another painting project. At least its a simple one!

  1. The white painted stairs look great. Do you have to worry about toe marks on them? Sandi

  2. Sandi,
My parents had painted risers on the stairs in their old house and there would be scuffs sometimes but they had narrower steps. Also, I get scuff marks on my risers anyway. Semi-gloss paint is washable.

  3. I have been going back and forth with this forever! Our staircase is the original solid oak and I almost feel guilty about painting the risers, yet I know it would be so much brighter. My mom "warned" me about scuffs, but that's the beauty of always having white paint around, just touch it up if need be! Good luck, can't wait to see the finished product (hopefully it'll convince me to finally take the plunge!)

  4. Love the painted risers, but I would worry about constant touch ups because of scuffs. Let me know how it turns out. Hugs, Marty

  5. I've got the same project on my list. Only, we need to refinish the top portion, as they look as old as the Hills. We're talking varnish here! lol.

So glad I found your blog, we've got alot in common as far as our homes and our tastes are concerned. Always love finding that!

  7. That would look really nice. I have painted riser and you do get scuff marks but they're easy to remove.

  8. That would look great! If you get scuffs just use the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser sponge...it works great!
